Dynamic Conversation: Artists of the African Diaspora

Interview Shorts
July 24, 2019
On July 14, 2019, visitors to the Museum met and heard three artists speak passionately about their life’s work. William Villalongo and Syd Carpenter were both featured in our summer exhibition "An Essential Presence: The Petrucci Family Foundation Collection of African American Art," while Rigo Peralta is an Allentown-based artist whose mural "Transcultural" was installed at that time in the Museum’s vestibule. Each talked about their artistic journey and practice while bringing attention to the range of art created by people of the African diaspora and its importance to American art, culture, and history. After, they engaged in a talkback with the audience.
